Body found in Northland’s Waipoua Forest, death ‘unexplained’

Police are investigating after a body was found in a Northland forest.

A police spokesperson confirmed the body was found in the Waipoua Forest, famous for its kauri trees, this afternoon.

“An investigation into the circumstances of the death will begin, and at this stage it is being treated as unexplained,” they told the Herald.

“The death will be referred to the coroner, and at this stage, is not being treated as suspicious.”
