A great combination of shooters

Hokianga Sports Club 39 Ohaeawai Taiamai Black 26: The Hokianga side managed a convincing win over Ohaeawai Taiamai Black in the Bay of Islands Netball Centre prem grade on Saturday, although the latter team was apparently missing a lot of key individuals due to injuries and illnesses, thus needed players from their Red team to play up a grade.

The game was exciting with both teams at 8-each at the first quarter, then Taiamai one point ahead at halftime. A change of players in the third quarter saw Hokianga pull away slowly, with the score 25-22 at the end of the third quarter, before they went on to win by a convincing margin. Standout plays included great defence by Alexis Chapman, Jess McPherson, Dallas Williams and Rose King; mid-courters Emily Potter, Nancy Te Whata, Mihi Lee-Taimona and Tui Rudolph; and a great combination of shooters Kate Te Whata, Cassey Cooper and Chelsea Rudolph.

Mangonui senior results
The newly introduced sponsorship round is proving an exciting change to the Mangonui Netball Centre senior season, noted local commentator Lesley Wallace.

"Each night teams play two 20-minute games so a quick start is essential in this shortened format," Wallace noted, ditching her usual match of the week report approach and instead opting to provide results from play last Thursday evening (July 24) to show just how unpredictable these matches could be.
