Onerahi-Central Chiefs ended their Whangarei junior cricket season in style taking the A grade championship and scoring a resounding win which included imnpressive performances with both bat and ball on Saturday.
Onerahi set an unprecedented target when they scored 207 for three wickets, thanks in main to Henry Cooper, the standout player of the side all season, who fell just four short of a century. But not to be outdone, bowler Tom Herman showed no mercy in collecting three wickets in three balls to see Kamo restricted to 107.
Henry had plenty of support from fellow batsmen Cam Pilmer, 35, Fraser Seymour 21 not out and Bradley Kneebone, unbeaten on 13 while Tom's efforts were ably backed up by Tyler Johansen who took three for 10 runs.
Daniel Ridgley did his best for Kamo scoring 22 with Dylan Jakicevich and Api Packiyarajah both making double figures.
Aiden Miller, 43 not out, and Jordan Antunovich, 40 retired, saw Maungakaramea to victory over Onerahi-Central Green while City beat Kerikeri by seven wickets in the other A grade matches. Results.-
