<p>More than 750 Northland kids from 15 primary schools took part in the Westpac Rippa Rugby Competition at Tikipunga Sports Park.</p>
<p>New Northland Rugby Union junior rugby sponsor Westpac ran a BBQ on the day and also sold drinks as a fundraiser for the Northland Rescue Helicopter service.</p>
<p>Northland ITM Cup players also helped as good will ambassadors.</p>

About 75 crews took part in the BP Surf Rescue North Island IRB Championships at Waipu Cove on February 10 and 11, where sunshine and medium-sized waves made for a great event.
Regatta was welcomed to Whangārei-te-rerenga-parāoa (Whangārei harbour) with a pōwhiri conducted by hapū Patuharakeke as about 580 passengers disembarked.
