Jan Ward and Blair Glentworth chose Cleopatra of the Nile as their theme for the Paihia Christmas parade, building a Nile boat in pharaonic colours of blue and gold, and a pyramid complete with a bandage-wrapped mummy.

About 75 crews took part in the BP Surf Rescue North Island IRB Championships at Waipu Cove on February 10 and 11, where sunshine and medium-sized waves made for a great event.
