Paihia Christmas parade
Jan Ward and Blair Glentworth chose Cleopatra of the Nile as their theme for the Paihia Christmas parade, building a Nile boat in pharaonic colours of blue and gold, and a pyramid complete with a bandage-wrapped mummy. The float was accompanied by dancing girls in skimpy togas and pulled by palace slaves in black body paint. It took a month to make the costumes for the 26 people who manned the float
