Just over 100 riders took part in the second Mayoral Cycle Challenge on the Okaihau-Kaikohe leg of Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail on Sunday.
Among them was 12-year-old Eru Matene of Kaikohe, who completed the 13.5km ride on a unicycle; photographer Peter de Graaf was one of the last to finish after suffering a puncture near the half-way mark.

About 75 crews took part in the BP Surf Rescue North Island IRB Championships at Waipu Cove on February 10 and 11, where sunshine and medium-sized waves made for a great event.
