Marae Master Cookoff

The Mid North's top marae are again doing battle in the Marae Master Cookoff. Inspired by the TV series MasterChef, the Te Hau Ora o Kaikohe-organised event sees six marae compete to do the best job of hosting a group of kuia and kaumatua for lunch. The guests are also the judges, rating each of the six marae lunches on taste, health and presentation. Peter de Graaf was there as the newly opened Kohewhata Marae, just south of Kaikohe, made its bid for cookoff glory.
