It has been a busy summer at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds with people from as far away as Germany and as close as Auckland flocking to the Bay of Islands to take a tour around the Grounds. Many of Northland’s popular spots have been packed with visitors this holiday season and the Northern Advocate has visited many of them too to soak up the holiday vibe. The sun was out on Monday so photographer John Stone went along to the Treaty Grounds to capture the range of visitors.

About 75 crews took part in the BP Surf Rescue North Island IRB Championships at Waipu Cove on February 10 and 11, where sunshine and medium-sized waves made for a great event.
Regatta was welcomed to Whangārei-te-rerenga-parāoa (Whangārei harbour) with a pōwhiri conducted by hapū Patuharakeke as about 580 passengers disembarked.
