Four of the six Northlanders recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list will receive their gongs in Auckland tomorrow.
The Governor-General, Sir Anand Satyanand, will recognise the bravery and service of a wide range of New Zealanders at three investiture ceremonies at Government House in Auckland from today.
Tomorrow, former Northland Regional Council chairman Mark Farnsworth, of Mangawhai, will receive his Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit award for services to the community while Northland Age editor Peter Jackson, of Kaitaia, will be awarded his MNZM for services to journalism.
Wiremu (Bill) Nathan, of Kaitaia, and Peter Oldham, of Waimamaku, will receive their Queen's Service Medals for services to the community in the service.
The two other Northlanders recognised in the honours, national basketball legend Pero Cameron, MNZM, and Rupene Mare, QSM, will receive their awards in Wellington next week.
