YMP A won through to the premier men’s final, Gisborne Girls’ High School striker Brooke Willock scored six goals and GMC Kowhai beat Ngatapa — they were the highlights of local weekend hockey.

The demolition job the YMP A women did on Paikea could be added to that list, too.

Roschelle Koia’s four-goal haul was the standout individual effort in that excellent team performance by the unbeaten YMP women, who have qualified for the premier women’s final.

Emerre and Hathaway GMC Kowhai will play E&H GMC Green this weekend to decide who joins YMP A in that final.

The men’s playoff between YMP A and THC lived up to expectations.

YMP A beat THC 3-2 in one of the season’s best games, which could have gone either way.

THC and Lytton Old Boys A will play off this weekend to decide the other premier men’s finalists.

Williams Transport Gisborne Girls’ High School played well as a unit against Te Aowera.

Brooke Willock belted in six of their 11 goals and the others were shared around.

Emerre and Hathaway GMC Gold have struggled at times but deserved their 2-0 win against YMP B.

Dave Gooch Spray and Signs LOB A have scored 22 goals in their last two outings, and that must be helping them ahead of the playoffs.

The Masters, likewise, will be feeling good after their second win on the trot.

Paikea have gone straight through to the senior women’s final. Ben Holden Fencing Ngatapa and Girls’ High will play off for the other place in the final.

Emerre and Hathaway GMC Gold have gone into the women’s senior reserve final. YMP B and Te Aowera will contest the other spot.

LOB Masters have one spot in the senior men’s final. The other goes to either Boys’ High or YMP B.

Results — Senior Women: Williams Transport GGHS 11 (Brooke Willock 6, Ngahuia Wilson, Paige Rofe, Oaklea Bowden-Morris, Mollie Clarke, Brooke Morrison) Te Aowera 1 (Alex Smith-Tuhou).
