The Rosemary O'Brien tournament is part of the secondary school Winter Tourney Week featuring a range of sports.

The combined Gisborne Girls’ High/Campion College team lost their game against Papamoa 4-1.

Several Gisborne schools are involved in out-of-town hockey tournaments.

Gisborne Girls’ High first 11 have won all three of their pool games at the Jenny Hair Cup in Carterton.

They beat Nga Tawa Diocesan 5-1, Marian College 2-0 and Wellington East Girls’ College 2-0 to set up a quarterfinal against Marlborough Girls’ College.

Gisborne Boys’ High’s first 11 are at the Woolaston Trophy in Levin.

They beat Freyberg High 4-1 in their pool opener, then lost 9-1 to Cornerstone Christian School, and faced St Peter’s College in the quarterfinals.

Campion are at the North Island mixed tournament in Whanganui.

They lost 2-1 to Pompallier College and drew 0-all with Newlands College, and faced Hamilton Christian School in today’s quarterfinals.
