Williams skips bowls team to Tolaga Bay triples victory

Don Williams skipped Krystel Williams and Dyani Johnson to victory in Tolaga Bay Bowling Club’s annual three-bowl triples tournament.

They won 26 ends and had a +49 differential.

The tournament attracted a strong field from across the region.

Players from Kahutia, Gisborne, Poverty Bay and Te Karaka bowling clubs joined Tolaga Bay members in a tournament marked by camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Twelve teams filled all six rinks and despite the extreme heat, spirits remained high.

Teams played three rounds of 10-end games, with final placings determined by the number of ends won.

In second place were Geoff Pinn (skip), Karen Pinn and Kelly Te Miha. They won 24 ends and had a +53 differential.

Third were Lucan Taingahue (skip), George Taingahue and Linda Taingahue, who won 24 ends and had a +43 differential.

Fourth place went to Ben Elkington (skip), Mike Namana and John Donnelly, who won 22 ends and had a +29 differential.

Tournament controller was Vern Alder. Club members provided morning tea and lunch for competitors.
