Wickets to Knight in win

Gisborne’s Kaley Knight played her part in Northern Districts’ bounceback win over Wellington Blaze in a Hallyburton Johnstone Shield 50-overs cricket clash on Sunday.

Northern won the Round 4 clash by 57 runs just a day after being thrashed by the Blaze in Round 3.

Knight was not required to bat as Northern amassed 245 for the loss of five wickets.

She took 2-40 off her 10 overs and effected a run out as Wellington were dismissed for 188 in the 46th over.

In the Round 3 match, the Blaze compiled 316-4 in in the first domestic List A cricket match to be played under lights at Seddon Park.

Georgia Plimmer belted a career-best 147 off 139 and Leigh Kasperek 89 off 98.

Knight took 1-43 off six overs.

Northern were dismissed for 171 in the 42nd over to lose by 145 runs, with Knight making seven off 36 balls.

Northern are sitting fourth on the six-team table on seven points.

Their opening match against Auckland in Whangarei on November 18 was abandoned and Auckland beat them by 60 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method the following day.

Knight took 3-32 off seven overs in that match.

Northern are next in action against Canterbury Magicians at Mt Maunganui on Saturday, December 9.
