Poverty Bay paceman Connor Starck fires down a delivery in a 50-overs game against Waikato Valley on Day 3 of the Emerging Rangatahi Northern Districts under-19 cricket tournament at Harry Barker Reserve. Starck took 1-35 from six overs as the Valley side were dismissed for 248 with three balls remaining.

Te-Reimana Gray and Jarrod Ormiston were stand-outs for Poverty Bay in a 112-run loss. Gray took 5-33 off 6.3 overs. Ormiston scored 50 not out off 86 balls as the home side were dismissed for 136 in the 38th over.  

Thomas Sulzberger  was in the runs for the Valley side. He made 79 off 105 balls, including six fours, before being caught by Nathaniel Fearnley off Gray’s bowling. Cameron O’Leary made 80 off 73 including three fours and three sixes.

 In highlights from other matches, Hamilton first drop Angus Henry was unbeaten on 125 from 121 balls while No.6 Bradley Rowell pummelled 70 off 41, including five sixes, in their team’s score of 310-4 against Counties-Manukau; opener Josh Parsons scored 101 off 131 balls and Hemanth Akula 74 from 98 for ND Invitational as they amassed 294-6 against Northland; and Bay of Plenty Lakelands opener Sean Gapes scored 70  in his side’s 212-7 versus BoP Coastlands. The teams moved into twenty20 games today, with Poverty Bay up against BoP Coastlands this morning and BoP Lakelands in the afternoon.
