Karts darted across the track in a hectic start to the adults’ feature race at the end of Eastland Kart Club’s fifth points meeting of the season.
A wheel of a kart driven by Jess Hughes flew off in a collision with another kart, and the race had tobe restarted.
Only five of the nine karts that started the race were still there at the end of the 10-lap course, which included a shorter, joker lap.
Sam Hughes took the joker lap early to get the lead, but Daniel Taylor took over the lead after he played his joker on lap 8. He held on until the finish to record his second feature win of the season.
Sam Hughes was second, Mike Vita third, Jack Jobberns fourth and Liam Nicol fifth in a contest that featured some top-notch racing.

In the kids’ feature over eight laps, junior driver Asha Hughes took the win, from rookie drivers Asher Davis, second, Lennox McIndoe, third, Oscar Bartlett, fourth, Chloe Hughes, fifth, and Max Asher, sixth.
Bartlett picked up the award for kids’ driver of the day for the huge improvement he is showing.
For adults, the driver of the day was Bill Mooney, who never gives up.
Fastest lap times on the longer circuit were recorded by Shane Murrell (22.665 seconds) for adults, and Davis (28.115s) for kids. Fastest time on the joker lap was recorded by feature race winner Taylor (21.642).
In the heats, drivers had four races each, with starts from the front, middle and back across the mixed groups, so everyone got to race every other driver.
In the adults’ races, Sam Hughes and Murrell had three wins each, while Shaun Barwick and Nicol had a win each. This was Nicol’s first win.
Vita, Jobberns and Barwick each had two second placings, while Nicol and Murrell had one each.
Mooney had four third-place finishes, while Dion Lund, Jobberns, Vita and Taylor had one each.
In the kids’ races, Davis had three wins and a second placing, while McIndoe had a win and three second placings.
Chloe Hughes and Bartlett each had two third-place finishes.
