The two teams played each other for the first time in a decade as they prepared for the resumption of their respective club competitions next week after the Covid-19 lockdown.
The
visitors defeated Kevin Hollis Glass Pirates by 35 to 5. Pirates coach Willie Waitoa said Uawa were “a lot hungrier than us”. He did like the performances of Willie Bollingford, Wayne Collins, Abbey Wawatai and the two props Jesse Sweeney and Hauraki Downs, who “got better as the game went on”.
