BMX

THE weather played ball for Gisborne BMX club last week and a race night was run.

STRIDERS

George Donaldson and Jax Nepia had five good battles down the strider track. These guys love their riding, which is neat to see.

FIVE AND UNDER

Mason Rennie had a good night with four wins, Pippa Spence claiming the last race win. Stan Donaldson, Xavier Booker and Damien Smith all get faster each week.

SIX/SEVEN YEARS

William Johnston-Priest was the rider to beat, with four wins. Anna Spence was in hot pursuit and claimed a win for herself. Jakob Rennie, Stephen Bennett, Blake Carpendale, Frank Donaldson and Liam Nicol all had close battles.

EIGHT/NINE YEARS

Reave Nepia-Anderson was the fastest in this group, claiming three wins out of five races. Reef Hillman picked up the other two wins.

Brad O’Connell-Bacon was second-equal with Reef and did his best to challenge the front-runners. Lucas Leif Nicol, Liam Spence and Jorja Rogers rounded out the group.

THIRTY-PLUS MASTERS

Guy Spence was the rider of the night, edging out Bully Halley, David Bacon, Sherilyn Anderson, Jude Halley and Kyla Newton.

TWELVE/THIRTEEN YEARS

Ruby-Anne Smith took the round victory over Kaitlyn Priest and Asher McKnight.

SIXTEEN-PLUS

Dylan Lardelli took the round win after five good battles with JT Nepia,Tim Smith and Krystal Smith.

Over the past couple of months, club members have been on the road at race meets.

Most notable was the North Island championship meet in Auckland. Tim Smith was ranked 4NI, JT Nepia 4ni, Phill Gill ni5, Anna Spence NI5, Kyla Newton NI5, Krystal Smith 6NI, Ruby-Anne Smith 7NI and Reave Nepia-Anderson 7NI (8 girls).

Sherilyn Anderson, David Bacon and Brad O’Connell-Bacon all rode well, gaining good track time in competitive fields.

Club updates and information on meetings for 2019 will be posted on the Gisborne BMX Facebook page.
