SNOOKER

JOHN Warren won the Suncity Open Handicap Tournament held by Gisborne Cosmopolitan Snooker Club last Saturday.

Warren defeated Phil Thompson Snr 2-0 in the best-of-three-frame final.

Sixteen players contested the tournament, and Warren played good snooker throughout. He defeated Tom Cook 2-1 in one semifinal, while Thompson defeated Kevin Kennedy 2-0 in the other.

Alan Scholes beat Tony Murphy to win the flight, and Campbell McFarlane beat Tony Cleaver to win the plate.

TeRina Hawkins, the only woman in the field, reached the semifinal of the plate.

Players now turn their attention to the Cosmopolitan Snooker Club’s handicap singles on Saturday, April 21.
