WAIROA bowlers Peter Robinson and Glenda Kapene won the Gisborne-East Coast Centre mixed pairs bowls tournament at the Poverty Bay greens.

Robinson and Kapene went through undefeated, and beat Kahutia’s Francie Adair and Alastair Macpherson in the final.

Both Wairoa bowlers showed heaps of promise but they need to play regularly in a higher standard of competition, and — sorry — that means more travelling to Gisborne.

Don’t underestimate yourselves . . . you have the talent but it needs dedication to take it to another level.

Hard luck, Alastair and Francie. You will just have to keep trying, Alastair. You can’t let big brother Duncan get too far ahead of you.
