More than 300 competitors representing 14 city and country schools from across the Gisborne district competed  at the primary interschool triathlon at Nelson Park on Wednesday.

It was a great turnout, almost double the entries of last year when many schools were unable to enter because of the cyclone’s effect on their own triathlons.

Wainui Beach School was the standout, completing a clean sweep of all the team races as well as  having a share of individual placings.

The  event was organised and hosted by Mangapapa School, with the support of Whiti Ora Tairāwhiti.
