Waikohu and Horouta come under the spotlight when Round 1 of the netball season resumes at Victoria Domain tomorrow after a two-week break.

All senior grades in the Pak’nSave competition will be in action on the courts from 9am. The school grades start next week.

Claydens Waikohu (1) play Horouta Koura at 12 midday tomorrow.

Both teams have had only one competition game this season, and this should be a hard-fought match.

The Waikohu players worked well together in their first game, moving the ball at speed through to their shooters. On defence, they pressured the ball-carriers all over the court.

In their only game so far in Round 1, Horouta had to work hard against the defensive pressure of top-of-the-table YMP. However, Horouta produced some good passages of play.

At 10am, YMP Turanga FM play Gisborne Girls’ High School Senior A.

YMP have made a strong start to the season by playing as a team on attack and defence. They have two wins from two games.

Girls’ High have shown glimpses of good team unity but in this game will need to show it from the first whistle to the last.

In their two competition games so far, the students started slowly but were more confident in the second half and pulled back some of the deficit.

Whangara Old Girls have the bye this weekend.
