Unbeaten Boy’s High make final with 7-3 win

UNBEATEN Gisborne Boys’ High School are through to the final in softball’s Division 2 North Island Secondary Schools Championships.

The two top qualifiers — Boys’ High and Te Aute College — squared off at Waikirikiri Park in Gisborne last night for direct entry into today’s final, Boys’ High prevailing 7-3.

In fading light against high-class Te Aute pitcher Kahurangi Beamsley-Allan, Adam Nepe and Jake Noble hit home runs.

Rain caused some games to be cancelled.

Hamilton Girls’ High School earned direct entry into the girls’ final.

This morning, Palmerston North Boys’ High School got through to the boys’ final and Westlake Girls’ High School qualified for the girls’ final.

Gisborne Boys’ High beat fellow finalists Palmerston North Boys’ High 5-4 when the teams met earlier in the tournament. The final starts at 1pm.

The girls’ final was to begin at 11am.
