Twilight competition comes to an end

BADMINTON

A TEAM called Salt’npepper — Mike Rice and Marsh Walker — won the twilight badminton doubles round-robin competition that ended last Thursday night at the Badminton Centre.

A yankee tournament was held on the final night as all teams had played each other over the previous four weeks.

Numbers were down due to school break-ups and parent interviews but those present enjoyed the night.

Organiser Linda White thanked the players for taking part.

She hoped many of them would continue playing badminton at summer club nights or social mornings, both on Mondays.

She also thanked the sponsors and presented the prizes.

Results —

Twilight doubles winners: Salt’n pepper (Mike Rice and Marsh Walker).

Runners-up: “What’s up Cuz?” (Shanan Gray and Manaia Puha).

Most improved: Racketeers (Joy Carroll and Murray Brown).

Yankee tournament: Justin Kent and Keilah Kent; Foldens (Trevor Baty and Stella Perano).
