FOUR Gisborne goalkeepers — Oscar Ruston, Regan Cameron, Jack Faulkner and Brooke Bennett — have been picked for age-group federation teams. They have been training hard over the past month both in Gisborne and at training camps in Feilding.

Gisborne under-13 boys are well represented at federation level. Enzo Edge, son of former All White Thomas, has made the squad, along with Ben Barker, Jet Koll and Leo Crockett.

Wide midfielder Rubi Perano has made the under-13 girls’ side and has benefited from training with the boys, under the guidance of football development officers Blake Mulrooney and Lizzie Hall.

Braden Fowell, who starts with the Wellington Phoenix Football Academy on Monday, and Lytton High School student Matt McVey complete a promising group of young players.

The federation teams that include the Gisborne players have three game days scheduled over the next two months. The first of these will be in Palmerston North on February 20 and 21 against the Capital federation (Wellington).

On March 5 and 6 they will be in Taupo for games against Waikato. On March 19 and 20 they will be in Wellington for games against Capital federation teams.

Rubi Perano, Enzo Edge, Ben Barker and Jet Koll are looking forward to a trip across the Tasman to play for federation sides against Australian age-group teams this year.
