KAREN McDonald produced her best round since February of last year to earn top honours at the Tairawhiti Maori Golf Tournament at Gisborne Park.

Home-course player McDonald won the women’s 0-18 gross with 3-over 76.

An eagle-2 on the 295-metre 12th hole set up Poverty Bay trainee greenkeeper William Brown for victory in the 0-10 men’s gross.

The Poverty Bay-East Coast representative shot 3-under 69. His round included 14 pars.

Net 67 was the common theme. That score won the net in every section.
