GISBORNE sidecar racers Rob Miller and his swinger Hamish White raced in the sidecar invitational at Kihikihi at the weekend and went wheel to wheel with a former 1NZ from Auckland. The Gisborne Speedway team recorded two first and two second placings.

“We had good battles with former 1NZ Russell Stewart and Andrew Parker,” Miller said.

“We had two firsts and a second in the series, and a second in the feature. The track was a bit slick and rough for the final race and Russell pushed us out in the start.

“I tried hard to get underneath him but couldn’t do it. We just bounced all over the show on the rough surface.”

Five of the top bikes in the North Island were there, Miller said.

“Hamish and I came out of it well. It was awesome racing and we were up there on the pace. Bring on the opening night at the Eastland Group Raceway this weekend and then for us at Western Springs in Auckland the following weekend.”

They will race there in the Bill Buckley sidecar challenge.
