THC earn right to take on YMP

THC have joined YMP A in the premier men’s hockey final after they defeated Lytton Old Boys A 4-1 on the LJ Hooker turf at Harry Barker Reserve last night.

Dave Gooch Spray and Signs LOB A were unable to hang on after they grabbed an early lead.

THC equalised 20 minutes in and then took control.

Tamanay Tuhou and Hylam Tukariri each scored two goals for THC.

The LOB goal was scored by Wesley Hampton.

It was a thoroughly deserved win for THC, who have been the only side to foot it with YMP A through the season, and they merit the chance to win the championship title.

The result sets up a fantastic premier men’s decider next week.

In tonight’s women’s match on the turf, YMP B and Te Aowera fight it out for a place in the C Division final against Emerre and Hathaway GMC Gold. The match starts at 6pm.

The playoffs continue tomorrow at 1pm when Ben Holden Fencing Ngatapa take on Williams Transport Gisborne Girls’ High School to settle the other senior (B) division women’s grand final berth.

At 2.45pm, Emerre and Hathaway GMC Green play Emerre and Hathaway GMC Kowhai to decide who joins YMP A in the premier women’s grand final.

In the final playoff game at 4.30pm, Gisborne Boys’ High School take on YMP B for the right to play LOB Masters in the final of the senior men’s (B) division.
