Teams named for octagonal tournament

THE Bowls Gisborne-East Coast representative teams have been named for the octagonal tournament in Manawatu from Friday to Sunday.

The senior men’s team will comprise: David File (Te Karaka), Don Hoepo-Williams (Poverty Bay), July Hoepo (Te Karaka), Paul Harrison (Gisborne), Andrew Ball (Poverty Bay), Willie Murray (Te Karaka), Steve Goldsbury (Gisborne), Ben Elkington (Tolaga Bay), Geoff Pinn (Gisborne) and Ray Young (Kahutia). Manager: Tim Sherriff (Gisborne)

David File will play the singles.

Don Hoepo-Williams will skip his brother July Hoepo in the pairs.

In the triples, Paul Harrison will skip Andrew Ball (director) and Willie Murray (lead).

In the fours, Steve Goldsbury will skip Ben Elkington (director), Geoff Pinn (two) and Ray Young (lead).

Gisborne-East Coast centre women’s selector and manager Bobbie Beattie has chosen: Dayvinia Mills (Gisborne), Glenda Kapene (Wairoa), Tanya Harrison (Gisborne), Lyn Trueman (Gisborne), Anita Vaotuua (Poverty Bay), Sharon Olsen (Tolaga Bay), Mere Nepia (Te Karaka), Jasmine Merrick (Te Karaka), Carol Hawes (Gisborne) and Lesley Seymour (Poverty Bay).

Dayvinia Mills will play the singles.

Glenda Kapene will skip Tanya Harrison in the pairs.

In the triples, Lyn Trueman will skip Anita Vaotuua (director) and Sharon Olsen (lead).

In the fours, Mere Nepia will skip Jasmine Merrick (director), Carol Hawes (two) and Lesley Seymour (lead).
