All other games are on Saturday. Following those, officials will decide on the composition of all senior grades.
Tapuae certainly made a case for promotion to the top level, netball commentator Sherrill Beale said.
“Both teams started strongly, moving the ball speedily throught the court and the score going goal-for-goal,” Beale said.
“However, five minutes into the quarter, Tapuae applied more pressure on the students (Lytton) and powered ahead.
“Their shooters created good movement in and around the goal circle, giving their feeders options for passing the ball in, which they then converted into goals.”
Tapuae led 17-8 after the first quarter, 36-21 at halftime and 53-31 at three-quarter time.
“Tapuae’s players have a good understanding between each other and worked together on attack and defence,” Beale said.
“On attack they created options through the court and on defence they pressured every pass, causing Ritana’s players to make mistakes.
“Ritana had better results when they played their steadier game and worked the ball into their shooters.”
Horouta turned around a two-goal deficit heading into the final quarter to slip past a determined Waikohu side.
“It was a very evenly-contested game for the whole hour,” Beale said.
“Both teams pulled ahead a couple of times each but their opponents pulled the deficit back. For the rest of the game, it was virtually goal-for-goal.”
Gold led 16-12 after the first quarter but Waikohu fought back and the deficit was just one goal — 27-26 to Gold — at halftime.
All four teams are back in action on Saturday, with Ritana playing Waikohu and Horouta facing Tapuae.
