Home-course team Patutahi (1) flexed their muscles with a near-perfect return in the opening rounds of the Oligoi Jug men’s interclub golf pennants on Saturday.

Patutahi’s four-man team beat Te Puia Springs 6-2 in Round 1 on the Patutahi course, then whitewashed Tolaga Bay 8-0.

It put them top of the table on 14 out of a maximum 16 points, two ahead of reigning champions Electrinet Park (1), who had 6-2 victories over Waikohu and Park (2).

Park (2) are on nine points, while Te Puia, Poverty Bay and Patutahi (2) are on eight, Waikohu 3 and Tolaga Bay 2.

Results, Round 1: Patutahi (1) 6 Te Puia Springs 2, Poverty Bay 6 Tolaga Bay 2, Electrinet Park (1) 6 Waikohu 2, Park (2) 7 Patutahi (2) 1.
