Enterprise Swim Team’s Tyler Finau and Jack Keepa each won six gold medals in their age groups at the Waikato long-course swimming championships in Hamilton this month.

Both also won three medals in open company. Finau took silver in the 100-metre backstroke and bronze in the 400m individual medley and 100m freestyle. Keepa took silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m and 400m individual medley.

In age-group races, Finau won the 200m, 100m and 50m backstroke, 200m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 400m medley. She was second in the 50m freestyle and third in the 50m butterfly.

In his age-group races, Keepa won the 200m, 100m and 50m breaststroke, the 400m and 200m medley, and the 100m backstroke.

Eleven Enterprise swimmers attended the champs. In age-group races —

Cody Anderson swam personal best (PB) times in five events out of seven and was first in the 200m freestyle, second in the 100m and 400m freestyle, and third in the 50m breaststroke; Alesha Batisaresare swam PBs in four out of seven events and was first in the 50m butterfly; Josie Baxendale swam PBs in 10 out of 11 events; Jonty Evans swam PBs in eight out of 10 events; Tyron Evans swam PBs in five out of 12 events; Jaimee Fisher was second in the 200m and 100m butterfly, 200m backstroke and 200m medley; Emily Horne was first in the 100m butterfly, second in the 50m butterfly and third in the 50m freestyle and 200m butterfly; Maesyn Koia swam PBs in four out of eight events; and Nathan Proctor was third in the 200m medley.

The Aquaknights Junior Festival in Rotorua last month was for swimmers under 12. The event was contested in four regions around the country at the same time. Four Enterprise swimmers took part —

Jacob Douglas swam PBs in three out of five events and just missed a top-10 placing; Bella Fitzharris-Stevens swam PBs in two out of nine events, and was fourth in the 200m butterfly and seventh in the 100m butterfly; Bradley Anderson swam PBs in five out of eight events, and was second in the 200m butterfly, fourth in the 200m breaststroke, sixth in the 100m breaststroke, seventh in the 100m butterfly and eighth in the 50m breaststroke; Jackson Horne swam PBs in all six of his events, placing fourth in the 50m butterfly, fifth in the 100m freestyle, seventh in the 100m backstroke, and eighth in the 50m freestyle and 100m medley.
