BADMINTON

Eastland travel to Auckland this weekend for the playoffs of the 2019 inter-association super veterans’ Division 2B badminton competition.

After two weekends of competition, Eastland were placed third in their group, so in the morning they will play the fourth team of Group A — Auckland (2).

In the afternoon, they will face the winners of the tie between Hawke’s Bay and Waikato. Other teams at the Auckland Badminton Centre will be Auckland (1), North Harbour, Bay of Plenty and Wellington North.

The Eastland team members are: Kevin Lee from Gisborne Badminton Club; Ron Prebble, Kevin Taylor, Linda White, Annabelle Riwaka and Ruth Ledger, all from the Patutahi club; and Matheus Batlajeri, a loan player from Manawatu. Prebble returns to the team but Sheree Gray is unavailable for these ties.

The team hope to hold their own tomorrow, but are disappointed this is their final weekend of inter-provincial badminton for 2019.
