Tūranga Mana Wāhine rugby squad are on the road again, this time heading to Napier to face Wairarapa Bush tomorrow.

The Sunday game allows members of the team to play in Poverty Bay hockey and club netball finals today.

Tūranga are looking to build on last weekend's game against King Country in Te Kuiti.

The hosts won — 39-26 — but Tūranga showed courage to stay in the game.

Tūranga co-coach Lenny Ferris is aware of what they needed to work on ahead of tomorrow's clash at Whitmore Park.

“After the King Country game, we as coaches identified some areas in our game we need to improve — our slow starts are a key area. We had really good numbers at training on Monday and the ladies took on what we delivered really well.”

The played had plenty of energy considering the short turnaround from Te Kuiti, he said.

They showed a lot of heart last weekend and would look to further solidify the foundation they built from that game.

Turanga Mana Wahine do not have a game next weekend and the break will give them a good rest before their highly anticipated local derby against Ngāti Porou East Coast.
