Six wins, one loss . . . and that was by only one goal. Poverty Bay flew the district’s flag high at the Curtis Cup under-13 boys’ development tournament in Napier. The Bonny Seymour-coached side recorded emphatic wins over Horowhenua (8-0), Wairarapa (9-1), Hawke’s Bay (4-1), Wellington Futures (5-1) and Taranaki (6-2), followed by a narrow victory over Manawatu. It set up a title decider against Wellington, which the capital side won 1-0.

The PB team also finished second in the Noel Morrow tournament and won the East Coast mini tournament earlier in the season.
