LET THE BATTLE BEGIN: It’s destination ocean at the start of the indivdual girls’ race in the Battle of the Bays intermediate school triathlon. Ahead of the field was a 350-metre swim, followed by a 12-kilometre cycle and a 3km run to the finish line at the Beacon Reserve.
THE Battle of the Bays intermediate school triathlon, run by Ilminster, followed the Battle of the Bays Beach Challenge hosted by Gisborne Intermediate.
Both events pitted Gis Int and Ilm students against contemporaries from various Bay of Plenty intermediate schools.
