The club meeting at the Gisborne Speedway Club track on Sunday afternoon drew only a small crowd but it was big on action, particularly in the stockcars and sidechairs.

Club vice-president Jamie Simpson said car numbers were down a bit but that was to be expected at this time of year.

“We managed to dodge the rain and completed all 21 races on the programme, across all seven classes,” Simpson said.

“The stockcars were outstanding again, and the sidechairs put on a good show, too.”

A couple of out-of-town bike combinations jousted with the local riders.

“It was a fun afternoon, not a points meeting, but the racing was good just the same, and the track was excellent,” Simpson said.

Club members now look forward to their next meeting on February 12. It includes the Ashley Scott Memorial for stockcars, and the best-pairs races for production saloons, streetstocks and sidechairs.
