GMC's Jade Stafford and YMP's Connor Todd were named the female and male players of the year in the Poverty Bay Hockey Association's prizegiving that followed Saturday thrilling finals.

Stafford received a Bramwell's Pharmacy Cup.

She was the captain of INA Contracting GMC Green, the co-coach of GMC Kowhai, Whatatutu school's co-coach and a Poverty Bay Hockey umpire.

Todd, who played for the YMP A championship side, also received a Bramwell's Pharmacy Cup.

The Neil Hopps Trophy for Service to Hockey, and overall achievement of excellence, was awarded to World Cup and Commonwealth Games umpire Amber Church.

The association's other awards —

Upshot Memorial Trophy for contribution to hockey by a 16-year-old: Maia Brown (Whatatutu Secondary School and a GMC Green player).

Umpire of the year, recognising outstanding service and commitment to the hockey community: Henry Mohi.

Coach of the Year, for outstanding coaching of teams: James Torrie.

Volunteer of the Year, cup donated by Ngaio Haenga: Moana Milner (Waituhi)

Administrator of the Year, for outstanding administration services to a club, school or the association: David Preddey.

Administrators Plate, for outstanding communications/administrative duties and service to a club/team: Pare Tureia.

The Makarauria Boy Tuhou Shield for the top male goalscorer of the year: Tamanay Tuhou (YMP men).

The Lynn Tupara Cup for the top female goalscorer: Courtney Onekawa (YMP women), for the fourth year in a row.

Senior grade teams cups — A Grade men: YMP A. A Grade women: YMP A. B Grade men: Gisborne Boys' High School 1st XI. B Grade women: Gisborne Girls' High School 1st XI.
