Grom title to AsiaGisborne surfer Asia Braithwaite topped her age-group podium at the Billabong Grom Series in Mount Maunganui.
Braithwaite scored 9.66 out of a possible 20 for her two best waves to win the under-14 girls’ final. She was 0.49 of a point ahead of Mount surfer Anna Brock.
Another Gisborne surfer, Hannah King, was third in the u16 girls’ final with a score of 4.97. Taranaki’s Natasha Gouldsbury won with 11.7.

Hamilton has been named in the New Zealand women’s team to take on Australia at Cambridge on Sunday.
