Speedway beaten again by weather

Gisborne Speedway Club has been forced to cancel its scheduled meeting for tomorrow night.

It is the second cancellation in a week because of the weather.

Tomorrow night's racing was to have been highlighted by the Production Saloons Best Pairs and superstocks.

Club secretary Aaron Lum said the track looked like it would be more fitting to host jet sprints, than speedway racing.

“The centre of the track remains fully waterlogged.

“We had good fields lined up including 10 superstocks, but unfortunately we cannot race. It's very disappointing that we've had to cancel again, but there is absolutely nothing we can do about the weather.”

The next meeting at the Eastland Group Raceway is scheduled for February 11.

It will feature the Gisborne Saloon Car Championships and the Bruce Ellmers Memorial and Phil Walsh Memorial events.
