Gisborne Intermediate softball teams continued the school tradition of strong showings in this sport at Super 11 level. The Super 11 format draws competing teams from 11 schools in the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne districts.

The softball competition was held at Whakatane Intermediate, where the host school offered the only opposition for the Gisborne Intermediate girls’ team.

They played three games, Gisborne winning the first two comfortably. For the third game, the teams swapped players to “mix it up”.

The boys’ team were up against three schools and won all their games. They beat Kaitao Intermediate 22-1, Whakatane Intermediate 21-0 and Rotorua Intermediate 26-4.

In the final, they beat Whakatane 18-0.
