DARTS

Gisborne Club Darts Association (GCDA) members start their winter league season tonight with 16 teams entering this year’s competition.

This is up two teams from last year’s 14. New teams are Cossy Shakers and 2NZ Say My Name.

The Rose and Thorns and Uawa Warriors join 2NZEF, and the Roseland picks up last season’s B Grade runners-up, Dilligaf.

At the association’s annual general meeting, Ian Wood was elected president and Colin Edwards, vice-president. Di Leach is secretary, and Ernst Spreiter, treasurer. Spreiter is also responsible for the 180 badges.

All four come with a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for the sport of darts.

To support them, each venue has delegates to represent its members — Spreiter and Diane Brown for the Cossy, Tom Irwin and Mike Hughes for 2NZEF, and Wayne Morrell and Winston Wanoa for the Roseland.

The incoming committee thanked outgoing executive members Tina Aspalter, Cris Kiri and Syndi Barbarich for their contributions.
