Gisborne Girls’ High School’s annual athletics sports days is both a competitive and social occasion with plenty of colour thrown in . . . and this year’s was no different.

This year’s champions were Hannay Veitch (junior), Briana Irving (intermediate) and Ngahuia Wilson (senior). Irving’s efforts included breaking the 1500 metres record set by Aroha Brown in 2009.

The battle of the houses was a closely-contested affair, with Duff winning from Lysnar and Williams.
