Campion College have continued their run at the Grant Jarvis secondary schoolgirls football tournament in Palmerston North.

Campion yesterday beat Havelock North 3-0 then crushed Tararua 12-1. They were back in goalscoring mode this morning — a 12-0 rout of Inglewood — to top their pool.

Gisborne Girls’ High, also competing at the Grant Jarvis tournament, drew 1-all with Sacred Heart (Napier) yesterday, then beat Wellington High 3-0.

Lytton High had two pool play losses at the Maurice Hulme schoolgirls tournament in Rotorua yesterday. They were beaten 3-0 by Avondale and 3-0 by Mahurangi.

Gisborne Boys’ High, competing at the Hilldene junior tournament, beat Northcote 3-0 and lost 4-3 to St Patrick’s (Wellington) in pool games yesterday.

Gisborne Boys’ High lost 2-1 to Tawa College in their third pool game at the Woolaston Trophy tournament in Carterton this morning. Jack Fletcher scored Gisborne’s goal.

Gisborne Girls’ High had their second win of the Jenny Hair Cup in Palmerston North. Keeley Smiler and Chloe Kapene scored in a 2-1 win over Waiopehu College.

Gisborne Girls’ High and Campion College have made their presence felt at the Upper North Island tournament at the Howick/Pakuranga Centre this week.

Both teams had a good opening day on Monday.

Girls High, competing in C-grade, defeated Pinehurst 51-10 and Rototuna 36-19.

Campion, playing in D-grade, beat Botany Downs 26-23 and Edgewater 29-20.

Girls’ High yesterday had two more wins, beating Te Aroha 60-8 and Bethlehem College 40-21.

Campion lost 25-21 to Vanguard and 26-15 to Alfriston.

AA Zone 2 premierships, at Rotorua, Pool D: Gisborne Boys’ High Senior Premiers 68 (Ngaru Grayson 25pts, Sebastian Wilson 19, Nuku Patea-Taylor 11, William Collier 9) HIillcrest High 72.
