Showjumping finished for the season at the Glistening Waters and Equestrian Sports New Zealand Jumping Series Final Show at Solway Showgrounds in Masterton this month, and Gisborne riders were among those taking part.

Tess Clark and the consistent Cadbury (owned by Rick Shanks) was first in the 1.25-metre showjumping and second in the 1.30m-to-1.35m mini prix. Clark and Cadbury have formed a great partnership over the past few months.

Holly Baines and Pre Mo finished with a bang, winning the amateur rider class. That lifted them to to fifth place overall in the national series. This was a fantastic result for Baines in a hotly contested class.

Two Eye See, owned by Mick Gardner and ridden by Robert Steel of Dannevirke, was placed third in the horse 1.20m showjumping and fourth in the six-year-old series final. Two Eye See’s consistency over the season resulted in a result of fourth place in the six-year-old national series.

Merran Hain yet again succeeded in the show hunter ring, picking up two first placings in the 1.10m show hunter, two seconds in the 1m show hunter, a third placing in the 1.10m derby and a first and a second in the handy hunters. She was champion handy hunter and champion show hunter, while Untouchable was best-performed thoroughbred of the show.

Sinead Dolman had a disappointing end to the season, Kiwi Lansing being injured before the Horse of the Year Show, which stopped the pair from completing the season. However, their great form early on earned them enough points in the national junior rider series to finish in fourth place.
