SCORPIONS edged their way to the B Grade lead in Brezz’n Darts Club Tuesday night competition, when they beat Pythons 16-5.

Scorpions struck first in the singles, John Lynch defeating Sonny Laulau 2-0, and his pairs partner Hunter Eyles defeating Anthony Hulley 2-1.

Pythons’ Kiri Hawea got one for her team, defeating Bill Allen 2-0, before Scorpions turned on the heat to win the last three singles games. Eric Moses defeated Hine Wharehinga 2-1, Shaolyn Edwards def Mere Keenan 2-1 in a hard-fought game, and Scorpions captain Victor Mackey def Louise Laulau 2-0.

That meant Scorpions had a 5-1 lead going into the pairs.

Scorpions seemed to gel, winning eight of the nine pairs games, which put them comfortably ahead, 13-2, in the 21-game format of matches in the competition.

Games were a lot closer in the reverse singles, with the teams winning three each for a final score of Scorpions 16 Pythons 5.
