Triathlon

GISBORNE’S Tayler Reid was the best of the New Zealanders in the under-23 men’s race at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Rotterdam. Reid finished 11th over the Olympic distance in 1 hour 53 minutes 39 seconds in cold and wet conditions — 2min 11sec behind winner Raphael Montoya of France. Reid led after the 1500-metre swim, was part of the lead pack for the 40km cycle and was among the 10-strong group at the head of the field for the 10km run, which he completed in 33.21.
