There will be 450 children in 43 teams from 25 of the region’s primary schools cranking up the action today at the Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union’s ‘Rippa Rugby’ tournament at Waikirikiri Park.

The union’s junior development officer Mitchell Purvis said the youngsters were “pumped” for it.

“It’s going to be an awesome day. The kids are ready to go and I expect we will see the quality of play improve on last year.” It starts at 9.30am today, with the boys final at 1.20pm and the girls final at 1.40pm.
