Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union was the big Gisborne winner in the most recent New Zealand Community Trust funding round.
The union was awarded a $100,000 grant for salaries for their player development manager, referee and coach development manager, chief executive, and the finance and events manager.
In total, eight
local organisations were awarded $210,017 in May.
Other grants were: Eastland Junior Football, $40,000 for playing uniforms and equipment; Ngata Memorial College, $25,000 for a minibus; Tikitiki School, $15,000 for a van; Te Hapara School, $12,483 for a pool cover; OBM, $7534 for netball uniforms and equipment; Gisborne Cycling Club, $5000 for a contractor; and Gisborne Yacht Club, $5000 for equipment.
