Andrew Rickard teamed up with his 12-year-old son Adam and 17-year-old daughter Rachael and won the last local centre tournament of the year, the Centre Closing Trios.

They had a 7-5 victory over North Island representatives Nathan Trowell and Matthew Foster, with Dylan Foster leading.

Time and time again when the Rickards were down, Andrew Rickard came up with top shots to get his family team out of trouble. On one end they were at least three shots down and ended up gaining the shot with a top bowl.

After five ends, the score was locked at 3-3 and after End 7 of the nine-end final the score was locked again at 5-5.

On ends 8 and 9, it was all Team Rickard. They picked up single points on each end for the two-point victory

Dad Andrew notched up centre title No.17, Adam won his third centre title and Rachael gained her fourth. Adam and Rachael now have to wait until 2023 to see who can get to five centre titles first — for their first silver star.
