Gisborne riders have been doing well at equestrian events outside the district.

Many have taken part in Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa and Taupō events.

Molly McEwan competed at the Rotorua Spring Show in Taupō, and picked up two fourth placings in the one-metre showjumping.

Competing at Equifest, held in Taupō, Isobel Bevitt and Fire Bandit were first in the pony 90 centimetres and second in the pony 1.05m. Isobel and Mr Monochrome were third in the pony 1m-1.05m and fourth in the pony 1.05m.

Many Gisborne riders competed at the Hawke’s Bay A&P Show.

Ella Rouse and MJK Durham picked up a first and a third in the Auckland and Waitematā Show Hunter Group Junior Equitation Series and a third and a fifth in the Equimatch Junior High Points Show Hunter.

With Let’s Rumble Bumble, Ella was third in the pony 1.05m jumping championship.

Georgie Coop and Barney Rubble were first in the equitation 12 years and under, second in the Category B high points show hunter, first in the 1m jumping and third in the 1.10m showjumping. Georgie and Gaucho were third in the Category C 90cm show hunter and first equal in the 90cm jumping.

Isobel Bevitt and Fire Bandit were first in the pony 1.10m and third in the 1.15m jumping championship. Isobel and Mangatu Solar Eclipse were fifth in the 1.15m championship.

Maria Atsalis and Lady Moet were third in the Big on Writing 80cm Rider Equitation and fourth in the Aniwell Category C 90cm High Points Show Hunter.

Lucy Moylan and Well Dun Daisy were third in the Category B 70cm show hunter and third in the equitation for riders 12 years and under.

Ruby Carr and MJK Isle of Skye were second and fourth in the equitation for riders 12 years and under and were third in the Category C 80cm show hunter.

Molly McEwan and Wembleybrook Giovanni picked up many placings in the working hunter and hunter jumping classes. They won the awards for Champion Novice Working Hunter and reserve champion junior rider over fences, and in the showjumping they were second in the pony 1m and second in the pony 1.10.

Zoe McNaught and Nitro Pandora were second in the qualified hunter jumping and fourth in their working hunter rider class.

In the show hunters they were first and fourth in the Category C 80cm, second in the Category C 90cm, second and fourth in the rider equitation 80cm, and third and fifth in the Category C high points.

Iyve Spiers and WE Benson were second in the 1.15m showjumping championship, and Iyve and Ace were second in the pony 1m showjumping.

Lucy Bond and What a Gentleman were second and fourth in the 90cm show hunter and fourth and fifth in the amateur high points classes.

Rose Kershaw and My Luna Eclipse won two 90cm showjumping classes, were fourth in the Category B 70cm show hunter, fourth in the Category B 80cm and fourth and fifth in the Category B high points.

Rose’s mum Cindy and her horse Kiwi Vision were fifth in the 1.15m championship.

Briar Herries on Skibbereen Xtravagant had a show to remember in the showing section. They won the award for best-presented pony and rider, were second for novice first-year-ridden pony, and won the awards for open first-year-ridden pony 128cm to 138cm, champion first-year-ridden pony, novice paced and mannered first-year-ridden pony, open paced and mannered pony, champion paced and mannered first-year-ridden pony, and open first-year-ridden pony. They were also Pony Breeders Rosette winners.

Rose and Cindy Kershaw competed at the Trust House Jumping Wairarapa Jumping and Show Hunter Championships over Labour Weekend.

Rose and My Luna Eclipse were first equal in the 85cm showjumping and Cindy and Kiwi Vision were second in the Dunstan Amateur Rider Series and fifth in the 1.15m showjumping.

Ella Rouse competed at the Wairarapa A&P Show held at the Clareville Showgrounds. She and MJK Durham were placed second in the junior equitation. Ella and Let’s Rumble Bumble were third in the 1.10m showjumping and third in the 1m showjumping.

Iyve Spiers competed at the Let’s Jump Show in Taupō. She and WE Benson were third in the 1m showjumping and fifth in the 1.15m classic. Iyve and her pony Ace were fourth in the 1m, fifth in the 1.10m and second in the 1.05m classic.
